In exploring the culture of Chiayi, Taiwan, designer Kenneth from Black Seed was deeply fascinated by the cultural specialty known as "Chiayi Pottery" or "Chia-Chi Pottery." These colorful ceramic sculptures are commonly found in traditional Taiwanese architecture. With the approaching Lunar New Year and the theme of lion dancing, Kenneth combined the yellow lion "Liu Bei," the red lion "Guan Yu," and the black lion "Zhang Fei" with three works from the "Yokai Weapons" series: "Yoryu-maru," "Buryu-maru," and "Kaiha-maru," creating a harmonious fusion.

Considering the technology available at the time, the painting process was mainly done with thick hand coating to achieve a texture that is more in line with Chiayi Pottery, while preserving the hand-painted traces. The traditional glaze colors were extracted from minerals and oxides, resulting in a rich and warm color palette. To simultaneously capture the luster of fired ceramics and historical traces, the glaze exhibits localized, irregular matte variations.

Through this artwork, the designer expresses the spirit of the "Yokai Weapons" series, combining innovation with the heritage of traditional culture.
